A journey to the past with Lukasz Jemiol’s fw 2012
More of a journey through the decades than an ode to a specific one, Lukasz Jemiol surely started with art deco’s divines at their best such as Coco Chanel and Madeleine Vionnet, followed by a set of well-selected movies and exhibitions somewhere around the 60s. Good to mention the fashionable back-to-the-decades plays well with designer’s statement draperies as the label keeps on driving the changes in its very own way. So there is a few of some very 20s’ sequined low-waists next to the mid-waisted overalls that remind me of Marlene Dietrich somehow, and a set of Vionnet-inspired-Jemiol-revised gowns and drapes I found really eye-pleasing. A shift to post-war ages is comes up in a series of mid-waisted flares and some metallic-knits of the space age and sci-fi’s. As vivid the retrospective was itself, the colors turns focused enough with a palette of graphites tinted with some purple and emerald ones. No matter how tired you are with the old movies popping up here and there, it’s the nice way to spend out the upcoming season. And remember, I’m only writing about the good ones.
